NOA AGASI – CONTEMPORARY GLASS ARTIST
Noa Agasi (born 21 May 1994 in Breda, the Netherlands) is a Dutch contemporary glass artist and coldworking specialist based in Leerdam, a city with a rich history of glassmaking. Her artistic practice explores the relationship between light, colour, transparency and reflection, creating glass sculptures that challenge perception and reveal unexpected optical depths.
At the heart of her work lies a fascination with nature, time and memory. Through the combination of optical glass, reflective surfaces and natural materials such as petrified wood, Tiger Iron and horsehair, Agasi creates sculptural compositions in which different materials, histories and visual experiences intersect.
Her artworks invite viewers to explore the boundaries between what is visible and what remains concealed. Light travels through transparent structures, reflections alter perspectives, and carefully constructed layers create a sense of depth that changes with the viewer's position. These optical qualities become an essential part of the artistic narrative.
Agasi's approach is deeply rooted in technical precision and material knowledge. She studied precision engineering and laboratory glassworking at the Leidse Instrumentmakers School in the Netherlands, followed by specialist glass education at HTL Kramsach in Austria. Her background in scientific glassworking established a strong foundation for the technical processes that continue to define her artistic practice.
CRAFTSMANSHIP & ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT
Since 2022, Noa Agasi has further developed her expertise in traditional glass coldworking under the guidance of master glass cutter Albert Seubring. Through cutting, grinding and polishing, she transforms glass into carefully constructed sculptural forms. Each surface, angle and reflection is deliberately considered, allowing craftsmanship and artistic expression to become inseparable.
Alongside her independent artistic practice, Agasi is co-owner of Glasslijperij Het Kroonjuweeltje in Leerdam, where specialist glass craftsmanship, restoration and contemporary glass art come together.
Her work has been presented through international exhibitions, collaborations and glass art events in the Netherlands and across Europe. In 2026, two of her artworks, Intersection of Light and Spectrum of Light, were acquired for the collection of the Ernsting Stiftung in Germany.
Beyond her autonomous glass sculptures, Agasi also creates personalised memory art, incorporating materials such as hair or ashes into glass. These works explore the emotional significance of memory and personal connection through the same precision and sensitivity to material that characterise her contemporary glass art.
Through her evolving practice, Agasi continues to investigate the expressive possibilities of glass, bringing together technical mastery, natural history and the shifting perception of light.
